Somatic Work in Partnership with Nature
Exploring somatics through forest therapy. Six self-paced modules.
Exploring somatics through forest therapy
Somatics invites us to engage all of our being: sensing, action, feeling, and thinking. Forest therapy already does this, though guides don’t always have the language for it. This course lays the two frameworks side by side and shows how relational forest therapy supports somatic awareness, somatic transformation, and somatic opening in partnership with the land.

Who it's for
This course is for practitioners on either side of the partnership — those who know somatics and want to understand forest therapy, and those who know forest therapy and want the somatic frame.
It is especially for:
– mental health and medical professionals looking for a somatic framework that complements treatment across a range of settings
– somatic coaches, therapists, and practitioners who want to understand how forest therapy supports clients toward their own goals
– Forest Therapy guides who want an introduction to somatics and a clearer sense of why their walks work the way they do
– anyone wondering what forest therapy brings to somatic work
What you'll experience
Six modules of short video lessons, each pairing explanation with an experiential activity so you meet the material in your own body rather than only in concept.
The modules cover:
– an introductory overview of relational forest therapy
– an introductory overview of somatics and somatic methodology
– what nature is, and what nature brings
– key aspects of somatics and where they appear in forest therapy
– the aspects of forest therapy that support somatic work
– practicing somatics in partnership with nature
You’ll come away able to distinguish somatic awareness, somatic practice, somatic transformation, and somatic opening to see where each one is already happening on a walk.
What makes this different
Forest therapy has a clearly defined sequence that gives the experience structure, and inside that structure an open partnership with the land where each person finds their own way. That combination is unusual, and it’s what makes forest therapy such a natural fit for somatic work — the resiliency and connection it builds are the same elements the Arc of Somatic Transformation depends on. Many people first meet somatics through trauma work; this course approaches it more broadly, as a way of knowing ourselves and being in our full aliveness. Nadine Mazzola brings training in somatics, expressive arts, and embodied leadership alongside ten years of guiding, and she teaches the connection with examples and activities at every stage rather than as theory.
Why join us
Practitioners in both fields keep arriving at the same intuition: something happens outdoors that a treatment room can’t manufacture, without a framework for saying what it is. This course gives you that framework. Whether you’re bringing nature into clinical work or bringing somatic understanding to your guiding, you’ll leave with language for what you’ve been sensing and a clearer view of how to work with it.
