Makiko Sugishita

Makiko Sugishita is a Certified Forest Therapy Guide, ANFT Trainer, and the founder of KaleidoForest Co., Ltd., based on Yakushima, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage island in southern Japan.

In the island’s old-growth forests, she guides deep Shinrin-yoku®, an original program KaleidoForest has carefully cultivated. Walking slowly and opening the senses, the breath, and the body, participants are invited to reconnect with the forest, and with themselves. Since 2020, she has guided more than 1,200 people from Japan and around the world. Walks are offered in Japanese and English.

Her guiding vision, “Awakening Your Inner Forest,” invites people to rediscover their living connection with nature and carry it into daily life.

The first Japanese ANFT-certified Forest Therapy Guide and ANFT Trainer, Makiko brings 20 years of experience in international health with JICA and UN agencies to her work.
