Jane Burress

Welcome! My name is Jane Burress, owner of Doorway to Nature LLC in beautiful Door County, WI. After working as a Youth and Family Minister for twenty years, I noticed an alarming increase in anxiety, depression, and social isolation among youth and children. With a background in nursing and a desire to promote mental wellness, I began my journey to certification as a Nature and Forest Therapy Guide. I completed my training in December of 2019 and I have been guiding middle and high school youth at our local school since then. I also guide private and public walks for adults and am available to lead weekly seminars. I feel fortunate to have grown up in Door County surrounded by the waters of Green Bay and Lake Michigan, the Niagara Escarpment, and a variety of ecosystems. As a child I spent many hours outside, year round. Many of my favorite memories (including my wedding day), were outdoors. My husband and I raised three boys (one who currently lives in Door County with his wife and three daughters). It brings a smile to my face when I see my children and grandchildren enjoying and appreciating nature. I’ve always felt that I have benefited physically, emotionally, and spiritually when out in nature and now there is research to prove the benefits. I hope you are encouraged to get outside and enjoy all that nature provides. I love people and nature, so guiding you on a walk is my pleasure.
