A literal exploration of northern Ontario in my early years began my meandering career path that ultimately led me to this moment—taking a step into nature. As a teenager I worked as a Junior Forest Ranger, stationed outside a small northern Ontario town near Thunder Bay. I worked in the forest, planting trees, clearing trails in Quetico park, paddling through nature in a canoe. I then studied Forestry at Lakehead University where I learned about more than 100 species of trees and how to manage a forest sustainably. Next, I worked in environmental education focused on water, and eventually, my path led me back to the forest, where I worked with a team to develop a forest festival education program for youth in southern Ontario.
The forest was calling me. It was inevitable I would wind up back here. This time with the opportunity to help people take time for themselves in a positive natural environment. I am now certified as a Guide with ANFT (Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides & Trainers).
The path wasn’t a straight one, but it’s allowing me to spend more time in the forest, a place where I feel recharged and able to think more clearly and creatively. And better yet, to help others experience the same.
