Mount Pleasant, VIC, Australia

Guide Details

Ballarat, Victoria, Australia

Shalome Lateef is an ANFT certified Forest and Nature Therapy Guide, guiding on the lands of the Wadawurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung peoples. She collaborates with yoga instructors, art therapists, saori weaving instructors, and other forest therapy practitioners to create beautiful restorative retreats as well as running regular walks in her area. As well as guiding, Shalome is an accomplished craft practitioner and co-facilitates a bi-annual craft camp in Hopetoun, in the Victorian Mallee. Shalome is an eighth generation Australian women of UK and European descent, and has a lifetime of amateur and professional botanical training, bushcraft skills, as well as training in western esoteric herbal medicine. Shalome suffered from anorexia nervosa in her late teens and early twenties, in part as a reaction to the way that her people and culture treat the earth as a non-living, dispensable thing. She understands the depth of grief that comes with the state of our planet and our response to it, and has seen how developing heartfelt connections with the world helps to sustain us and to restore balance in our interrelations with the earth. Her walks are gentle, magical, restorative, playful and deeply grounding.
