Hi there,
I grew up among the old growth on the Coast side of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. I truly believe there is no place more beautiful. I found the practice of forest bathing when I purchased the book Forest Bathing by Dr. Qing Li on a weekend getaway. Reading that book explained the innate sense that I had always felt when I was in the forest. Since then, I have dedicated myself to learning everything I can about the practice and spending as much time re-wilding myself as possible.
A little backstory...
I own a fireplace boutique. You can read more about it here. Although I built my business around the feeling of hygge, the Danish word that encompasses all things warm and cozy, I still didn't feel quite at peace with myself. Running a business can be incredibly stressful. I began having severe anxiety and was unable to sleep. I was burned out in an industry that is meant to light fires!
In August of 2019, my family and I went on the above mentioned weekend getaway so that I could prepare my heart for the upcoming busy season. (Read: I was already stressed out and preparing for it to get worse. Much worse.) I found that book and it rekindled a spark in me. I dove headfirst into everything I could find about forest bathing and immediately registered for the next available training cohort through the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy. Busy season be darned, I knew this was my true calling.
Here we are
I have been an avid hiker and explorer of the Olympic Peninsula and being able to incorporate forest therapy into my life has brought a peace and calmness that I can't even begin to explain. My life isn't busy anymore, it is balanced. Whether it is hiking a mountain or sitting at my desk, I find myself stopping and smiling at a leaf fluttering by or watching a bee buzz around. Forest therapy has taught me to slow down and be more mindful in daily life. My hope is to guide you to that inner calm.
It is time to detach from the busy world. Let’s find clarity in the fog and peace in the trees.
