Guatemala City, Guatemala, Guatemala
My name is Raúl Palma, I am from Guatemala, and today, I want to tell you a story, my story. I was 5 years old, when I climbed a tree for the first time, I felt that everything looked better from above, I loved feeling protected by the branches, and at the same time, rocked by them with the passage of the wind. That memory would only be the beginning of a deep relationship between me and nature, which has been maintained and strengthened over time. I trained as a graduate in Ecotourism traveling throughout Guatemala; I was a university professor for 15 years in the field of tourism, which led me to specialize in the area of tourism sustainability. It was in this space where I began to notice that I needed to reintegrate, reconnect with nature and with myself. I completed a PhD in Tourism at the University of the Balearic Islands, Spain, writing my thesis on Spiritual Tourism, working closely with the “sacred geographical spaces of nature”. This path led me to discover what in my opinion is the best way to restore a person's relationship with themselves and with nature.
I am certified as a Forest and Nature Therapy Guide by the Association for Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT). I have created The Forest Therapy initiative, where I accompany people on this path of physical, emotional and spiritual healing, establishing a link between them and Mother Earth. Personally, this experience has allowed me not only to rediscover myself, but also to find peace and health. The act of restoring the relationship with nature is from the heart not the mind, which is why the benefits go beyond the tangible. “Pascale said: The heart has its reasons, which reason does not know.” Forest Therapy Guide Manual. Thank you for allowing me to share this space with you.
