Co-founder and Director of El Bosque y La Niebla Foundation and co-owner of the private nature preserve La Ilusión where she leads research and socio-ecological reconciliation processes. La Ilusión was the first area reported by Colombia to the World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) as Another Effective Area-Based Conservation Measure (OECM) where 45 hectares of one of the last remnants of Cloud Forest west of Bogotá, is being protected and restore since 2007.
She is a pioneer in Colombia in the integration of Relational Forest Therapy (RFT) with ecological restoration. She applies RFT as a form of communication and reconciliation between inhabitants and ecosystems in order to give owners an integral approach of land stewardship. Her management at the foundation has turned the OEMC La Ilusión into a natural space where various organizations and populations - hundreds of children and youngsters from the preserve's area of influence - have experienced reconciliation with Nature, and enjoyed the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of cloud forest. In 2024 La Ilusión became the first place recognized as ANFT Certified Forest Therapy Preserve in the continent.
Author and co-author of literary and scientific publications on the fauna of the OECM and private conservation initatives. Her previous experience as an organizational communication consultant in the energy and the environmental sectors has led her to learn about various spectrums of the relationship between culture and nature, a topic that has also fueled her work as an independent photographer, expressing these interests in bodies of work that have been exhibited on various national and international venues.
