Portland, OR | USA
Thanks for taking the time to review my page! My name is Jon (he/they) and I am an ANFT-certified Nature & Forest Therapy Guide living in Portland, OR. I still consider myself new to the area, having moved from my home state of New York in 2022. I'm passionate about finding places of tranquility and restoration amid urban centers, and sharing their solace with those of us who need it most. I have guided forest therapy walks, both in-person and virtually, in New York's Central Park, Inwood Hill Park, Portland's Washington Park, as well as in the vast Willamette National Forest. I am continuing my studies and experience in nature-based therapy and am currently enrolled in the Ecotherapies certification program at Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education & Counseling.
I work as a therapist in Washington County, OR, having earned my BLSW-certified CSWA and LMSW credentials in 2022. In my current role I respond to individuals and families experiencing crisis, offering solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) and working collaboratively to restore equilibrium in places of unrest. I have previous experience working with individuals living with intellectual & developmental disabilities (IDDs) (2 yrs), elderly adults experiencing memory loss (3 yrs), children and adolescents (4+ yrs), as well as work with couples, people experiencing houselessness, and people living with substance use disorders (SUDs).
Both in my work as Nature & Forest Therapy Guide, and as a board-certified therapist in the state of Oregon, I take a collaborative, compassion-based and client-centered approach. Real healing is a long journey, and like any journey it is traversed best with supportive company. Nature is the Great Healer, and in my work as a therapist and as a guide I aspire to renew your relationship with Her.
