Debby Singleton Claimed

Debby Singleton is a retired Associate Instructor from the Parks & Recreation Management and Health & Physical Education Programs at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. As a faculty member, Debby was recognized with a variety of university and college level teaching and service awards, presented at numerous conferences, led an array of professional development workshops, and collaborated with many community partners. 

As a recognized experiential education leader, career mentor, and certified forest therapy guide. Debby’s specialty areas include nature as wellness; public health implementation in recreation and leisure; leadership and group dynamics; creativity exploration in leisure; nature journaling; and outdoor activities such as stand up paddling, skiing, hiking, and forest therapy.

Debby’s current business, “Drawn to Nature”, provides nature and art-based programs, guided Forest Bathing walks, nature immersion hikes, and creative exploration programming in Western North Carolina and beyond.

Currently she is also a founding member and Vice Chair of the Friends of Jackson County Greenways, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support of the expansion, maintenance, accessibility, and sustainability of greenways in the county. Future plans are to lead all accessible nature and forest therapy experiences on the greenways.
