Woodland Immersions Claimed
Growing up walking in the woods nearly every Sunday afternoon with her nature-loving parents and siblings, Ann delighted in the wonders she experienced. Her enduring love, respect and awe for the forest and forest inhabitants led her to Forest Therapy through ANFT.
Even before discovering Forest Bathing, Ann created 'Woodland Immersions' at the family cottage and campground located near Cayuga Lake and Ithaca. At that point, the endeavor was focused upon camping or glamping in woods, breathing in the atmosphere produced by the hemlocks, pines and oaks, and meditating to the music of the birds and waterfalls. Now, through offering guided Relational Forest Therapy, she seeks to unlatch the door for participants to all the gifts that nature offers so freely. The slow walks begin with encouragement to open the senses and become more deeply aware of the sounds, textures, scents and beauty so abundant in the woods, followed by a series of invitations to engage with the trees, toads and other beings followed by group sharing to enhance the encounter with the other-than-human world.
Woodland Immersions will offer public and private Forest Bathing /Forest Therapy Walks as well as Retreats in Ithaca and the Cayuga Lake region. LedgeRock, (Ann's private family camp which is permeated by a gorges, hemlock, pine, oak and maple woodland) now has a trail dedicated to Forest Bathing where Ann welcomes visitors.
As a service, walks are offered once a month to non-profits, groups, and nursing facilities making Forest Bathing accessible to more people in and around the Ithaca area.
